What To Expect Following Varithena® Vein Treatment

Before,After,Cellulite,Inflammation,Legs,Treatment,CloseupVaricose veins are twisted, enlarged veins, causing them to become raised and appear purple or blue on the skin’s surface. As they progress, they can lead to pain, burning, tingling, and itching sensations in the skin and a tired feeling in the legs. If left untreated, they can continue to worsen.

Luckily, a simple, effective, and minimally invasive treatment option for varicose veins exists. Varithena® is an FDA-approved foam treatment for large veins in the legs. The foam is injected into the targeted veins, restricting blood flow. The blood then naturally redirects to other veins, improving circulation and reducing symptoms of varicose veins.

What To Expect Following Varithena® Vein Treatment

Following your treatment, you will be given a pair of compression stockings to apply pressure to your legs to help blood flow and prevent discomfort. For the best results, you should continue to wear them for three to ten days after your procedure. Furthermore, you should avoid submerging your treated leg for at least five days afterward.

Despite what you may think, getting up and walking for at least 30 minutes every day for at least the first two weeks is important. This will increase blood circulation and help with recovery.

You can return to your normal routine immediately following your treatment. However, you should avoid heavy lifting and strenuous exercise. Be sure to speak with Dr Stevens before resuming exercise.

In time, as the blood flow is redirected from the treated veins, their appearance and any side effects you may have been experiencing will begin to diminish.

Are There Any Side Effects?

Some patients report experiencing an itchy sensation after treatment, although it should subside within the same day.

Pain varies from person to person. However, if you are experiencing discomfort, you should elevate the treated leg and apply heat to the area. You can also utilize over-the-counter medications to manage any pain.
